Traditional Chinese Massage

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chinese massage is known as Tui Na (推拿, tuī ná). It is a therapeutic form of massage that focuses on manipulating qi (气), blood (血), and body fluids (津液) through the meridians (经络, jīng luò) and acupressure points (穴位, xué wèi) to promote balance, healing, and overall wellness.

The Benefits Of Massage Include:

• Promotes general well-being
• Improves Sleep
• Relieves stress and tension
• Improves circulation
• Boosts the immunity and can improve energy levels
• Helps to release toxins from the body
• Relives and improves muscle pain

Techniques Used in Tui Na

  1. Rolling (滚法, gǔn fǎ) – Uses the forearm or hand to roll over muscles.
  2. Pressing (按法, àn fǎ) – Firm pressure is applied to acupoints to stimulate qi.
  3. Grasping (拿法, ná fǎ) – Gentle kneading of muscles to release tension.
  4. Kneading (揉法, róu fǎ) – Circular movements to improve blood circulation.
  5. Pushing (推法, tuī fǎ) – Moving along the meridians to guide qi flow.
  6. Percussion (拍法, pāi fǎ) – Light tapping to activate energy pathways.
  7. Joint Manipulation (滚揉法, gǔn róu fǎ) – Similar to chiropractic adjustments.
